Our Story
Our story starts with a meeting in the Volunteer Action Center building in Sattler, TX, on Sunday, September 8, 1985. Fifty people had gathered in response to an announcement placed in the Canyon Lake Times Guardian, the local newspaper, by one Jewel Kincaid. This meeting, guided by representatives from Mission Presbytery, was to begin the process of organizing a new church.
Worship services began first in the Volunteer Action Center and later the local VFW Hall, where we would stay for the next few years. A rotation of retired pastors and senior students at the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary led our services. At Mission Presbytery’s 1988 Fall Meeting in Kerrville, Canyon Lake Presbyterian Church, along with three other fledgling Fellowships, was chartered, and we held our ceremony on December 4.
